CrystalsReports of the psychological benefits of crystals have been passed down from person to person. No one actually knows who came up with them or what evidence the reports were based on. |

Amethyst crystals provide inner peace, spirituality and grounding. Green aventurine brings luck. Lapis lazuli is good for intuition and inner strength.
These effects are fairly well known. Less well known are the following. Apatite can enhance critical thinking and the tendency to be suspicious of people. Galena can improve adrenal activity and lead to palpitations and heightened anxiety. Almandine can increase the heart rate and lead to fatal heart attacks. Phlogopite will cause instant severe pain and death to anyone coming within 2 metres of it. What evidence is there for the effects of these four crystals? Answer: absolutely none, I just made them up. What evidence is there for the effects of the first three above? Answer: absolutely none, someone else just made them up. But because a lot of people have repeated them, people tend to think they must be true. Did someone investigate to determine the effects of different crystals on the human psyche before making the claims? It seems not. If they did, there is no record of it. Controlled experiments have been done more recently to test circulating claims about crystals to see if they contain any truth. The results have generally been negative, the only slight positive indications most likely arising from the placebo effect. The placebo effect works just as well if the wrong crystal is used. The patient thinking it is the right crystal is all that matters. |
